The Living Centre

Eco-Spiritual Educational Sanctuary

Living Centre, founded in 1983 by Shantree Kacera, is an eco-spiritual education sanctuary. An oasis of healing and learning for thousands of people from around the world, the focus is on  ‘Care of the Earth, Care of People and Care of Future Generations.  Shantree and Lorenna Bousquet-Kacera’s life-inspiring programs support those who desire to be agents of change and deepen their intercommunion with the natural world, oneself and community.

They are committed to preserving and restoring native medicinal plants and their habitats.  The Living Centre is recognized by the United Plant Savers (UpS) as a botanical sanctuary. The Centre has also partnered with the International Sacred Seed Sanctuary Network and the Carolinian Canada Coalition.

Over the course of almost 45-years,  the Centre has transformed into a multifunctional and ecologically abundant classroom, which consists of a variety of forest gardens, a rustic teaching lodge, an earth-ship greenhouse, quaint guest cabins, medicine wheel herb garden, native plant trail, forest pathways, meadows, ponds, organic orchards, a snake habitat, a cordwood-cob building, a strawbale studio and a wide range of wildlife.

The Living  Centre offers certification and diploma courses that support people in creating ecologically sound lifestyles and careers. We have enthusiastic students from over 26 countries.
